ROBOCOP (1987)

Robocop was released in 1987 and directed by Paul Verhoeven. Peter Weller starred in the lead role as police officer Alex Murphy. The movie was set in old Detroit where crime is rife and there is a cop killer on the loose, Clarence whose gang which guns down Alex Murphy in the line of duty.

What the villains don't know is that although Murphy is pronounced dead, his body is then used by OCP as a test subject for their latest creation Robocop, which is half man half machine and all cop. OCP try to wipe Murphy's memories and programme him to be the future of law enforcement.

Robocop struggles with memories when he was in human form as Murphy, including flashbacks of his own death at the hands of the cop killers. Clarence and his gang are working for a high-up management at OCP and Robocop finds evidence to incriminate Dick Jones which leads to an epic battle for Robocop. The first movie was so awesome and spun off 2 sequels, a TV series, and a reboot. Unfortunately, everything after the first movie really sucked balls, though Robocop 2 was bearable and should get a mention at least for effort and the reboot also was watchable though it missed the gritty charm of the original.
