HIT-GIRL ISSUE 1 VARIANT EDITION

This post is a step by step guide and review of #1 variant edition. Hit-Girl is published by Marvel Worldwide, written by Mark Miller and luckily for me they have a blank cover variant to do some art on.

HITGIRL ART

The story itself bridges the gap between Kick Ass and Kick Ass 2 comics and with her father Big Daddy gone and the mafia shut down for a small while, how she returns to her step dad and mother and tries to put her past behind her, only to find that it's hard not to return as the awesome Hit-Girl. The artwork and writing inside flows throughout like the original and sequel and earns the right and respect to have a stand alone comic though I'm not certain if it's a limited run.

HIT GIRL ARTWORK

I started off wondering if I should draw a high detailed sketch of Hit-Girl from the movie but decided to go with a cartoon version to complement the rest of the #1 comic. I then proceeded with a pencil outline.

I then used my uni pin fine line markers, which are water and fade proof and have done a tips section in a previous blog post.

I must mention that the paper was like a wolf in sheep's clothing as it's one of the best and worst covers I've drawn on as the fine line markers struggled to bind, even smeared in places on the paper as did the crayons, pens and sharpies making it a nightmare to draw on as the paper seemed to have a glossy finish to it.

Once I used the finishing process (which is a trade secret) the finished piece looked like a shop bought cover.
